Students:
Description of program:

The Honors program provides highly
motivated students with an intellectually challenging educational experience
designed to prepare them for a successful transition from community college to
university.
Why enroll?

application will contain references to and evidence of Honors participation
and service learning
- Help ensure smoother
transition to 4 year college or university
Program Includes:
- Honors library
- Honors club
Pilot Program Requirements:
- Minimum 3.25 GPA in high
school course work, or a minimum of 3.25 in at least 6 units of college course
work, verified by transcripts and LATTC counselor.
- Eligibility for English
101
- Completion of Honors
Program application
- Letter of recommendation
from English Instructor or submission of research paper
Requirements to Continue in
the Program:
- Achieve grades of “C” or
higher in all Honors classes
- Maintain a minimum of
3.0 GPA in all LATTC course work
- Complete a minimum of
one Honors Course each semester
- Complete at least 10
hours of approved service learning activities for each semester enrolled in
the program
Deadlines:
Students must turn in
completed applications to the instructor by September 30, 2005. Yes, you must
turn in your transcripts with the application.
Last day to Section
Transfer out of Honors is the twelfth week of the semester. If you believe that
you will be unable to complete the honors work, you may Section Transfer back to
the regular section by the twelfth week of the semester.
- Service Learning:
Students will be expected to volunteer an approved community organization or
approved campus based activity. Students will be expected to log at least 10
hours and write a reflective paper. There will be more information to follow.
